The Kawanishi N1K Kyōfū or "Strong Wind" WWII navy fighter was the Japanese carrier based version of the land based Kawanishi N1K-J Shiden or "Violet Lightning" fighter and entered service in 1944. The Kawanishi N1K proved to be a highly effective and heavily armed fighter, codenamed by the allies as the George, it played an important role in the Pacific theatre during the later part of WW2, fortunately for the allied forces there was insufficient numbers of this excellent WWII fighter aircraft to reverse the direction of the war only 415 fighters being built, this was a direct result of the American Air Force bombing the factories producing both it and it's associated ancillary equipment.
