The IAR 80 was a radial engined low-wing monoplane fighter of all-metal construction designed and built for the Royal Romanian Air Force. The IAR 80 first flew in 1938 at which time it was equal to axis and allied fighters, however, by the time it became operational in 1941 it was at a distinct disadvantage against German fighters and when the IAR 80 was finally withdrawn in 1944 was totally outclassed by Axis fighters.
