The Brewster Buffalo F2A was an American carrier-based fighter designed in the mid 1930's, it was the first monoplane fighter to serve with the US Navy carrier force but the Brewster Buffalo was effectively obsolete by the time the US entered WW2, after limited use in the Battle of Midway against the Japanese where the majority of aircraft were lost, the remainder were quickly returned to the US for use as trainers, many Brewster Buffalo fighter pilots who survived the Battle of Midway henceforth referred to the Brewster Buffalo as the "flying coffin".
