The Blackburn B-25 Roc was developed from the existing Blackburn Skua dive bomber as a Navy fighter for use on the Royal Navy's WWII aircraft carriers, it first flew in December 1938 and entered Fleet Air Arm service with the Royal Navy in April 1939. Like the Boulton Paul Defiant the Blackburn Roc had it's four four 0.303 in machine guns mounted in a single Boulton Paul powered dorsal turret, this gun layout was unsuccessful and so the Roc was withdrawn from it's fighter role in August 1941, the surviving aircraft were then used as trainers and target-tugs until mid 1943.
