The North American SNJ-7 is a 1952 modification of the famous North American T-6 Texan trainer to meet US Navy training requirements. The SNJ-7 was fitted with arrester gear to allow the aircraft to be used as a landing trainer on aircraft carriers and fitted with the more powerful 600hp Pratt & Whitney R-1340-AN-1 Wasp engine and was also upgraded to the Texan T-6G standards in all respects.
