Only one Avro 707c was built, it was a fly-by-wire delta wing conversion trainer for Vulcan bomber pilots which first flew in January 1956, the instructor and pilot being converted to the delta winged Vulcan bomber sat side by side. The Avro 707c was based on earlier variants of the Avro 707 which had been built under Specification E.15/48 to test the design and handling of fly-by-wire delta wing aircraft, questions had to be answered and theories proved before detailed design work could be finalised on the far larger Vulcan bomber.
