Dassault Aviation designed and built the Mystère IV as a fighter bomber for the French Air Force. The Mystère IV first flew in September 1952 and entered service in 1953. A total of 411 aircraft were built between 1953 and 1958, although mainly used by the French Air Force the Dassault Mystère IV also served with the Indian and Israeli Air Forces. Although the aircraft remained operational into the 1980's it is probably best known for it's involvement in the controversial attack on the USS Liberty in the "Six-Day War" of June 1967 by Israeli forces.
