The Westland AH-1 Apache is a licence-built version of the Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter built for the British Army Air Core to replace their aging Westland Lynx AH7's. The main differences between the AH-1 and the original Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter is the fitting of 11% more powerful Rolls-Royce engines and Anti-ice protected folding rotor blades to facilitate easy stowage on ships and use within the arctic circle.
