The Boeing B-47 Stratojet was a cold war jet bomber which replaced the Boeing B-29 Superfortress and was operated by the USAF Strategic Air Command from 1953 to 1966 when it was effectively replaced by the new supersonic Convair B-58 Hustler, it's primary function was to enter Soviet airspace should WW3 ever start and bomb Strategic targets with nuclear weapons. A number of EB-47E, a ECM (Electronic Counter Measures) variant, remained operational until 1977 by which time a total of 2,042 B-47 Stratojets had been produced.
